A case study coordinated by Dr. Roberto Chacur details the use of biostimulation and detachment to treat grade 3 and 4 cellulite in the buttocks. Unsatisfactory results from topical solutions or oral medications have prompted research into more effective cellulite treatment methods, especially in more advanced cases, where even lymphatic drainage and cellulite machines produce only subclinical results.
The use of subcision to treat cellulite has been known since 1997; however, in this study published in September 2019, detachment and biostimulation were used as complementary techniques. Detachment can cut the fibrous septa, releasing the skin and smoothing cellulite in the buttocks. However, when combined with filler, using a biostimulator product, it is possible to stimulate collagen to treat sagging, one of the causes of cellulite, in addition to develop skin quality.
Another unique feature of this combination of techniques, known as Goldincision, is that it assesses the patient while standing, as well as performing detachment in an upright position, which allows for easier identification of cellulite foci. The treatment is performed in the doctor’s office in less than an hour, under local anesthesia, without surgery or hospitalization, and patients can return to their routine the same day.
